ACF is a foundation at the hub of the Alaska environmental network, in touch with both local and national efforts. With a demonstrated capacity for taking a long-term view of Alaska, ACF is working to build broad-based public support for environmental protection and for institutionalizing a sound conservation ethic, through grantmaking to the most effective grassroots conservation organizations in Alaska.

2009 - $40,000 To hold an Environmental Leadership Institute training in Alaska in 2010. Conservation Capacity

2008 - $35,000 To explore opportunities to increase collaboration among conservation organizations in Alaska. Catalyst Fund

2007 - $7,600 For the Sportsmen's Alliance for Alaska, to gain support from fishing and hunting interests, within and outside of Alaska, for protection of Alaska's wildlands, fish and wildlife. Grassroots Fund

2006 - $3,000 To produce a brochure that will illustrate the impacts of global warming on Alaska and to recommend possible solutions. Opportunity Fund

2005 - $3,000 To engage conservative allies in protecting the wildlands of the Tongass National Forest. Opportunity Fund

2003 - $15,000 To defend and permanently protect the Chugach National Forest and other rainforest lands in the Copper River Delta, Kenai Peninsula and Prince William Sound. Endangered Ecosystems

2003 - $35,000 To build a conservation majority in the state of Alaska. Communications and Capacity Building

2002 - $20,000 To provide a focused grassroots and media effort to protect Alaska's national public wildlands and ecosystems. Endangered Ecosystems

2000 - $18,000 To ensure that the U.S. Forest Service's proposed roadless area protection policy includes the Tongass National Forest. Endangered Ecosystems

2000 - $2,000 To engage the conservation community in a timely discussion to protect the Yukon and Arctic from newly proposed development of gas pipelines through wilderness areas. Opportunity Fund
