The Sierra Club of BC Foundation exists to protect and conserve our natural environment through research, science and education. Sierra Club of Canada, BC Chapter is the principal agent in implementing its programs and projects. It works toward conservation and sustainable use of land and marine environments at the local, regional and global level.
Grant History:
2008 - $3,000 To develop a strategic action plan to counter the threats of industrial activity now facing the Muskwa-Kechika Management Area. Opportunity Fund
2006 - $3,000 To launch an outreach campaign to raise public awareness and build leverage to enable a well-funded and legitimate recovery strategy for Mountain Caribou. Opportunity Fund
2004 - $2,000 To purchase and distribute 40 copies of the Muskwa-Kechika book to First Nations chiefs, government ministers and staff, press, and other decision leaders. Opportunity Fund
2002 - $25,000 To support the South Chilcotin Mountains/Lillooet Land Use Plan campaign and strengthen local grassroots conservation efforts across the province. Endangered Ecosystems
2000 - $2,000 To support ongoing negotiations between the conservation community, the forest products industry and the provincial government to develop land use recommendations that will protect undeveloped coastal watersheds in British Columbia from unsustainable logging. Opportunity Fund
